1941 ~ Dorie Miller, a messman, shot down several Japanese planes from the deck of the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
1981 ~ John Jacobs, a wonderful man and a fellow Howard alum who I recently had the pleasure of meeting, is named president of the National Urban League. He later became Exec VP at Anheuser Busch. His-Story is fascinating. Google Him!
