Recently I was engaged in conversation with a few folks about all the guns and violence in the US and how unsure we can all feel about our safety. We can be shot at any time, anywhere. America is built on, thrives on and encourages violence. She is obsessed with guns!
One of the participants in the conversation just happened to be a Jewish woman who, at some point, seems to have lived in Israel. She offered that everyone in Israel has guns too yet the crime and murder rates are under control and that no one was afraid or feels unsafe. 🤦🏾♀️
It took all I had, because of the setting, not to ask if she thought the Palestinians openly carried guns and if she thinks they feel safe...
Privilege allows us not to see or experience other people, their issues, their situation and why or how they see or receive us...

Surely you don't know me and as I know no one named "Mr/Mrs. Anonymous", you are no friend of mine. My friends are grown folks who own their comments, who are interested in learning, growing and respectfully sharing REAL dialogue, especially of differing opinions. Groupthink nor concensus is required. We don't have to agree... Always however, we are respectful. We don't throw rocks and hide our hands, and never do we attempt to distract, harm or silence others with charged, incendiary, empty and convenient accusations of phobia of any kind. We confront when uncomfortable with someone else's opinion or experience, respecting that we don't have to agree and then agreeably proceed in conversation unafraid to push pass the "comfort" zone. That's what we do...

I have known Helen for many years as a colleague. I disagree with her about firearms, see below, but I know she not 'anti-semitic in the slightest. I would take her on, face to face about the fact Israel is a Jewish State, there is no such thing as Palestine, (only Jordan). Lets deal with crime and criminals plus mental illness in America, not the scapegoat of guns. But she would know she is dealing with me, Will Sparks, an old white guy, and proud NRA member, not an anonymous person. Kudos, Helen.
